In this short insightful piece, she discusses how maturity and responsibility empower young people to champion peace, security, economic growth, and democracy.
The youth of today are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are the changemakers of today. In an era where global challenges demand urgent solutions, young people have a crucial role in shaping peace, security, economic growth, and democracy. Maturity and responsibility are the foundations upon which they can drive meaningful progress.
The Role of Youth in Peace and Security
Conflicts—whether political, ethnic, or economic, often have devastating effects on communities, and youth are among the most affected. However, they are also key players in fostering peace. By promoting dialogue, rejecting violence, and embracing inclusivity, young people can break cycles of conflict and build more stable societies. Many grassroots youth organizations are already engaged in peace-building initiatives, from community mediation to countering hate speech online.
